I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in November 2018.
Interview
I was contacted through a recruiter for an initial 15-minute phone interview. After the phone call, the recruiter she arranged for me to fly out to Richmond, VA, 4-star hotel, flights, and meals (up to $75/day) all included.
I arrived in Richmond at night and went to interview the next morning. Me and about 7 other people were at the Cap One campus interviewing for CODA. A current software developer gave us a tour of the campus which is like a college campus. The buildings were incredibly nice and there are many amenities, like a gym, health center, cafeteria, nice outdoor seating, a big fountain, and even bikes for you to borrow to move around. Then we had lunch and got to ask the software developer more questions.
The interview is broken up into 3 parts: behavioral, job fit, and case study. The order is mixed up for everyone.
****There are no coding questions. ***
The job fit interview is about your interest, background in technology, and your internships. The case study is difficult if you have never done one before. I recommend studying a lot for it. I think this where I missed up and not selected. The Cap One making a change to their web interface. One important thing to note is that the purpose of CODA is so they can get different perspectives from people in non-CS majors in the tech industry
The interviewers are really nice and made me feel pretty relaxed. I answered all of their behavioral questions with answers and they seemed pretty impressed by it. From their impression, I thought I had gotten the job but the following day I got a rejection email.
