After initially receiving an email to interview, I talked to the recruiter over the phone. She was nice and I thought this was going to be a more intensive look into my past experiences, but she was just gathering information pertaining to my interest level of the job. Pass the half round.
During that initial meeting, she went over the format for the the future interviews and recommended me to a current level BTA (business technology analyst) to help walk me through a case interview. Up to that point, I had never done a case interview, but the gentleman whom she recommended did a great job in breaking it down for me and highlighting some points I had missed. This conversation occurred the next day, or subsequently very soon after.
Next was round 1 where I talked to two current IT project managers. The first interview was a behavioral interview which included going over my background, previous work experiences and why I wanted to work for Deloitte. I felt my nervousness came through in the interview, however, which I think lead to my ultimate demise. The second interview pertained to the case study where he went through questions pertaining to integrating a company's ERP system with a acquisition's legacy ERP system and my job was to fictionally facilitate this transaction.
I was unable to make it to the second round, however. Tips for the case interview, if it is as new to you as it was to me, would be to go to Deloitte's web site and study the case interview material. They break down good / great answers and I think it really prepared me for that interview. And of course, don't be nervous, they are just people, too.
