Very unprofessional interview process… 40 days. The panel and HR kept telling me that they would provide update in 2 to 3 days and they kept me waiting… I had received a phone call from one of the Emerson's agency around 22nd Nov-18 mentioning that they were looking for a candidate for the position of IT Project Manager at Emerson- Innovation center Pune office. The detailed job description was shared with me, which said they were looking for IT project manager (10+ years), PMP certification, experience in application development lifecycle and candidate who have handled multiple implementation projects. The title of the JD was “Project Manager”. After my confirmation, agency got my resume screened by Emerson panel and had scheduled first F2F round of discussion where the interview questions were mainly on IT project manager. The panel told me that I have cleared the first round and they really liked the experience that I have in managing various projects. After waiting about a week, I was invited in Emerson office for client round. The interview questions were to evaluate my Project management skills. After few days then I got a call from HR, it was more like a discussion and my expectation about Salary. HR person told me that they would try to release offer in 3 to 4 days. I waited for 10 days then finally a call from HR saying that I am a select but one of the director again want to see and have discussion with me in Emerson office. I asked HR if I am already selected then why another round. She mentioned that since this is a very senior position our director would like to meet in you in person. I somehow managed to take off and attended the interview. After few days, HR confirmed again that I was selected for the position and verbally shared the salary part with me as well. The salary was lower than what I had asked for but I was ok with that. What was surprising and shocked to me was the designation that they were offering was “Tech lead 2”. The reporting was also to “Tech lead 2”. This was a shock to me as during the entire process they mentioned that this was for the project manager position and no one told that my designation would be tech lead 2. I clearly told that HR that I am not ok with designation and they promised to look into this and get back in 2 to 3 days. Weeks have passed, HR kept telling me that they were just waiting for approval and then I get a call from HR that hiring manager again want to have a discussion with me. He then told me that they have figured out the solution and then HR will come back to me with change in designation by that evening only. Again, I kept waiting, waiting for days and weeks. After follow-up in between the HR said, there is no problem and they are just waiting for the approval. 40 days had gone after my 1st round of interview but still no clear answer. They kept me waiting for very long and never came back to me with updates when they said they will do. One final day I get a call that they can’t provide me project manager designation. Very frustrating and time consuming experience. Then the agency calls me and mentiones that they had discussed this again with HR and they will come back to me asap. Again over a week is gone and I am no longer waiting. They have killed all the excitement. Thanks for being so indecisive, dishonest and unethical.

Hiring was via a Contract firm TEK Systems a contract recruiting firm. Emerson required an extensive background check because of the sensitivity of data for the company. But interviews were light and not difficult.
