I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at H&M in June 2011
Interview
I applied online at H&M's website to be a sales advisor at two locations. Afterwards I received an automated e-mail saying that they are reviewing my qualifications. Seeing that I don't have any retail experience, and I applied numerous times before and was contacted the next day to know that I my qualifications didn't match the position I was applying for, I expected an answer the very next day.
It took two weeks before I received a response. Because I applied to two locations, I received two e-mails, one saying that my qualifications weren't what they were looking for (figures), any another stating that I should call the recruiter and set up a phone interview. I did just that, and the next day the recruiter called.
She seemed really friendly, and the interview was pretty relaxed. She seemed satisfied with my answers until I told her my availability. Due to religious practices, I am not able to be available all weekend, and she asked if I can adjust my schedule. I wouldn't budge, and she said that all employees have to be fully available on weekends.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at H&M
Interview
It was a group interview. They asked us about fashion and what we know about H&M and it’s background. We also had a task in groups to come up with good answers to the questions given, we also had to present.
It was a group interview, we did group tasks like styling people for different occasions and answering . It was pretty focused on the company values and if you have a love for fashion.

Question 1
Style a customer who came in looking for an outfit for a job interview, their personal style is 'streetwear'
It was a group interview, about 8 of us. We had to basically work together on different scenarios and answer the questions the manager asked us. She also put us on the spot and individually asked us questions. I got 'who inspires you the most.'
