      Implementation Specialist Interview

      22 Dec 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cambridge, MA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Dec 2016

      Interview

The process itself was 2 rounds of phone interviews with recruiters and the team lead/manager for the role, followed by a 2 hour in person interview, broken out into 4, 30 minute 1-1 sessions with the team and other relevant employees. Included in the process is updated feedback after each round. The transparency is unmatched by any other interview I've ever had, and is truly appreciated from a candidate standpoint. Noah did a great job assessing my skill-set, strengths, and weaknesses, and describing what others thought regarding those qualities throughout the process. The interviewers were very clear in their expectations and in answers to questions that I had regarding the role and life at HubSpot overall. Unfortunately, I did not receive an offer on the role based on 'communication skills', with the interviewers citing nervousness and 'filler words', even with the understanding that I had proper experience and skills. This being my first full interview process for a client facing role after not speaking with clients in my current role, I can certainly agree with those things in this instance, but am a bit saddened that, from my perspective, interview nervousness wasn't taken into full consideration in the circumstance. However, I have nobody to blame but myself for not representing my skills as intended, and I will still have to work on that from my end. :) Overall, I'd absolutely recommend to anybody that receives an interview with HubSpot to pursue the role and absorb everything that HubSpot has to offer. Even from a candidate perspective in an interview process that ultimately did not lead to an offer, they prove to be one of the best companies that I've interacted with, and I hope to have the chance to go through this process again in the future.

This review is a great example of why I love working at HubSpot. Noah is an absolute star and will never let a candidate down when it comes to supportive and transparent feedback throughout the interview process. And in spite of the outcome of your interviews, it means so much that you still found our process to be a great one and that you took the time to offer recommendations to others in the future. I wish you the best in your next career move and am so glad you enjoyed your experience with us. -Becky

      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at HubSpot

      Interview

Very poor feedback after first interview and both the manager and the recruiter failed to respond when asked for more. Asked for feedback after the role play and I was told I had to be more concise, which I took and would have worked on. In my opinion there has to be another reason why I've been declined but this hasn't been told me, not even when I specifically asked for more information to improve in the future. Bad experience overall.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review and I'm sorry your experience was less than remarkable. Communication is a critical aspect of the interview that we measure candidates on, particularly in customer facing roles, so it's certainly a significant reason for not moving forward in the interview process. If you haven't gotten a response from your interview team after follow ups, feel free to email me at beckym at hubspot dot com and I'd be happy to follow up to ensure you get some clarity on any outstanding questions and closure on the process overall. Best, Becky

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in June 2019

      Interview

I submitted my application online and was contacted to submit a video recording of myself responding to a few questions, to get a better feel for who I was. I then had an initial phone screen with a recruiter, leading to a phone discussion with a hiring manager. From there, I was brought in for a back-to-back formatted interview with five members of the HubSpot team. I was given a tour of the HubSpot campus when I arrived, and then met with each of the interviewers I had lined up. They were so personable and made me feel at home while we were conversing! I heard back the next day, and accepted an offer!
