      Customer Service Representative Interview

      13 June 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Detroit, MI
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Detroit, MI) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Detailed online application and phone interview. IMO it's Ridiculous a company as successful and growing as Hubspot that prides itself on being progressive/"customer-centric" - would pay customer service reps a firm $15/hour. That's literally minimum wage on the west coast. I was really excited about the company and took my time with the application and enjoyed the interview even - but sadly it's another typical startup that wants everything (passion, experience and work ethic) but doesn't want to pay for it. Warning to others - places that try to sell you on customer service being a stepping stone and "so many opportunities for growth" , typically treat those that are in customer service like they are less than. Pay that low outside of a straight up call center is indicative of a company that does not respect the role or value experience. They do seem to care very much about culture fit and WHO they hire...if I had one piece of advice for hubspot it would be...you get what you pay for. Disappointing.

      Question 1

Lots of questions about experience working remote, background and general customer service questions to get an idea of empathy. Study up a bit on the product!

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review. Our global compensation team benchmarks all of our roles regularly (including support) with market data to ensure it's fair and competitive, and there are a number of variables that factor into our compensation levels, including our benefits, the equity we offer upon joining, and the growth employees experience in salary over time. I'm sorry you've had experiences with companies where front-line support reps feel like second class citizens, because at HubSpot, that couldn't be further from reality. Not only does the entire company rally around our support team to ensure they're set up for success, but we truly view support as a fantastic starting point in the company - in fact, more than a third of our support team experienced some form of career growth last year, be it a promotion within Support or one into Product, Marketing, Sales, or another area of the business (including our own People Operations team!). I'm sorry your views on our compensation and your other experiences colored your impression of HubSpot - if you're up for it, I'd love to turn that around, so please send me a note at beckym at hubspot dot com and I'd be happy to connect you with someone on our Support team currently, or who has grown in their career from joining HubSpot in Support. Best, Becky

      Customer Service Representative Interview

      15 Nov 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Las Vegas, NV
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot (Las Vegas, NV) in Oct 2025

      Interview

The initial screening interview was fine — they just asked common “tell me about a time when…” scenarios, and the interviewer was friendly. The second interview is a one-hour, two-part role play (chat and phone call). They have hundreds of knowledge base articles, but you have no idea what scenario to prepare for, so it’s pretty difficult to do well unless you spend hours every day prepping. If you do manage to get past this portion, you still have 3–4 more interviews before receiving an offer.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Aug 2025

      Interview

Terrible. Recruiter gave me questions to prepare for with the hiring manager and then none of those questions were asked having me feel unprepared. Also gave me ridiculous feedback about not answering a question exactly to their liking as to why they passed on me. Said I did well otherwise, but applied again and immediately got declined. Joke of a company and recruiting team.

      Account Manager Interview

      10 July 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dublin, Dublin
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin)

      Interview

I had a first-round interview for a sales role, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. The recruiter did not seem well-prepared for the conversation — their English level made communication difficult, and they weren’t able to clearly explain the role or speak about the company in an engaging way. As a candidate, I came in genuinely excited about the opportunity and had done a lot of preparation. However, the conversation felt surface-level and unstructured, and it didn’t give me a clear view of what working at the company would be like.out of the interaction. I hope the process improves, especia I would have preferred a written Q&A or even a chatbot to get more value lly for a company that positions itself around great customer and user experiences.
