I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Sept 2025
Interview
After handing in my CV I had a recruiter reaching out for an initial interview. It clearly stated that there is no preparation needed for this round.
Recruiter call was on the phone and quite impersonal with a standard script. The recruiter provided all the basic information you would expect from a call like that so I got a clear picture of the set up, team and company. I was then asked to walk them through a project of mine which came as a surprise, considering the ‘no preparation needed’ statement on the invite.
Overall friendly call but please be more upfront what you’re expecting of candidates during this interview.

Question 1
How are you integrating AI in your process, walk me through one of your projects, what do you expect in your next role.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at HubSpot in Jan 2021
Interview
I was referred to this role internally by a couple of colleagues two months ago in early December. I had a phone screen that was rescheduled twice by the recruiter to early January.
After having that phone screen, I participated in a manager interview in mid-January. I was then ghosted by the recruiter despite trying to follow up via email, as well as via my refer-ree. Realizing that I was being ghosted, I started to apply to other roles. 4 weeks later in mid-February, I finally got a response that the role has been filled. By the time I finally received that response, I interviewed with a handful of other companies and accepted an offer for another large company in the area.
Please be mindful of your candidate experience. 2 months long is unacceptable for a modern technology company, especially as someone who was an internal referral. A simple "there a few other candidates that are further along in the interview process than you are, so the role may be filled at some point" could have saved me a lot of grief in my job search.

Interview
Overall interview process would’ve been four phases: recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, portfolio review, and a panel virtual onsite behavioral interview.
I didn’t make it past the hiring manager interview but everybody was nice and quick to set up interviews and give feedback.

Interview
The recruiter reached out and we set an initial interview very quickly. It went well. Then, I met the hiring manager. He was very thorough and professional in the interview. The process felt pretty standard and there was especially good communication with the recruiter
