      Account Executive Interview

      17 May 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cambridge, MA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Apr 2021

      Interview

As most others have mentioned, 4 part interview process that drags on for an incredibly long time (a month and a half) making the process very draining. 1- recruiter (30 min) 2- hiring manager (45min) 3- role play with another manager (45min) 4- (2) back to back interviews with (2) managers in each (90min) As with some others, my recruiter seemed to disappear and overall wasn't very personable- she disappeared right after providing insight for the role play and I only heard from her again when I received my rejection email- I just checked my emails and it was a total of 4 full weeks of no response from her. (It's a good thing a coordinator stepped up to help.) So unfortunately, I never received the email providing insight into the types of questions that would be asked by the panel making me more ill-prepared than I could have been. I also found the emails I received from her to be quite scripted, very much cut/paste... I had noted serval times to extend my thanks to the managers I spoke with but she did not even acknowledge this (unfortunately, you will not receive email addresses of the hiring managers to send direct follow up/thank you messages to). Beware to those who are trying to change industries, the team is not very open to that and will try to dissect every element of your sales process to the point of repetition and annoyance, even though the foundational skills may be the same. They seemed to really only want someone already experienced in saas as the main feedback I received each time was that they were concerned with the change in industries. All males interviewing (except recruiter) which is also disconcerting- would have been great to see at least one female on the hiring team. Overall, a very neutral experience. I expect if you have a proactive and engaging recruiter it could be more positive. Definitely a learning experience that I will take with me as I continue my job hunt.

Very structured. Recruiter will tell you exactly what the next round is about and what they are looking for. Interview was extremely structured and seems like interviewer follow script when they ask questions lol
