      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Sept 2021

      Interview

I have nothing but good things to say about HubSpot. Like so many in the marketing industry, I have been a long-time fan of HubSpot as they have been an important resource in building my career. I was beyond excited when I got the chance to interview for a role managing their user group programs (I heard back from them about two weeks after applying). I had my first 30-minute call with Kendra, the recruiter for HubSpot. She has been, by far, one of the most organized, transparent, and easy-to-talk-to recruiters I have come across in my professional career. After the first call, she let me know I was moving forward and sent me a very detailed email regarding the hiring manager, the role, and what sort of questions I should expect, and the format that they would like them answered (see the STAR Interview Method: The Ultimate Guide article on their website). It was so refreshing to get that sort of feedback as a candidate. Throughout the process, she was reactive to my emails and questions which is also so appreciated. I met the hiring manager for a 30-minute call, which was divided into about 15 minutes of her asking me questions, 5 minutes learning more about the role, and 5 minutes for my questions. In a short period of time it was evident how A) This is such a cool time to be scaling online communities and there are loads of opportunities for the HUG program, and B) The humanity and values of both HubSpot and the hiring manager were palpable. I really enjoyed the opportunity to have that interview. The next phase was a take-home test creating a presentation of how I would improve HubSpot webinars. The test was reasonable, it took me two days even though I was given four. I was invited back to meet the team, however by this point I received an offer from another company. It was a very difficult decision to end the recruitment process with HubSpot, but the timing just didn't line up this time. I would certainly consider HubSpot in the future, and I wish them all the best in the next chapter of their growth!
