Interview
Overall I found the whole process very impersonal and chaotic, leaving me with not the best impression of the company. I accepted another offer before getting the results of my interviews with HubSpot so I don't know if they would have extended me an offer.
Summary of the process:
- Recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn, initial 30-min call.
- Passed the 3-hour take-home test and received automated "congrats" email saying they would be in touch soon to schedule interviews. Then received email from recruiter saying sorry, but I didn't pass the take-home test. I emailed back pointing out the mistake and she said "oops", the rejection email was meant for someone else. Yikes...
- A few weeks later: live coding interview and live system design interview, both starting with behavioral questions
- After the tech interviews I was scheduled to have a debrief with a different recruiter who I hadn't met yet. She didn't show up. The coordinator apologized that he hadn't seen a conflict in her calendar. Over the next few days, we weren't able to find a time that worked for both of us so we just never connected over the phone
- A few days after tech interviews I accepted an offer from another company. I emailed the HubSpot recruiter to let her know that I would be dropping out of the process. Received no response.
- A few weeks after my last email to HubSpot I get an automated email asking to fill out a survey about my candidate experience. Other than that, no indication that they had even read my email.

Interview
I went through several rounds, including an initial screening, a technical assessment, and follow-up interviews. The process was well structured, but I found the technical part challenging because it required both problem-solving and clear communication under time pressure. The interviewers were professional, and the questions were relevant to the role. Although I did not receive an offer, the experience was still valuable and helped me understand the company’s expectations better.
Coding assessment with multiple levels. levels open up as you pass them. Time constraints looked tight. I could not get through all levels. It was related to Designing banking system.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin)
Interview
Consists of an Online Assessment, followed by 3 rounds (2 System Design, 1 coding)
One of the System Design interviewer was less experienced (with an experienced shadow interviewer). I feel like they didn't drive it correctly, didn't ask me the right follow-up questions and eventually gave negative feedback.
