My interview experience with HubSpot was unfortunately disappointing. I had previously held the company in high regard and genuinely saw it as a dream employer, but the process left me with a very different impression.
The interview felt impersonal and outdated. Standard, uninspired questions like “Tell me about a difficult sales experience” and “Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?” lacked relevance and depth - they felt more like a box-ticking exercise than a meaningful conversation. I expected more from a company known for innovation.
Some calls were led by managers who came across as disinterested and unengaged, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere from the outset. In one case, it felt like I was managing someone's bad mood more than discussing a professional opportunity.
To add to this, the talent team scheduled multiple calls with me that simply didn’t happen - one was delayed by over an hour without any communication. This lack of respect for candidates’ time doesn’t reflect well on the company culture.
Additionally, the mock cold call and discovery task lacked proper structure or prep - no talk tracks or context. A fake makeshift website 'BeaconGaurd' was shared. It felt more like a test of how well someone can bluff through a vague task than a reflection of real-world client calls or onboarding readiness.
