I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Portsmouth, NH)
Interview
I applied to HubSpot and immediately heard back to do a photo booth style interview. This was my least favorite part of the process, but I understand big companies need to have some sort of screening process. However it is still nerve wracking because since it feels so strange, I worried they were not able to get a true feel for who I was because it's not something I've ever done or practiced. Moving forward from there candidates have a phone interview, a google hangout interview/software demo and a final in person interview with multiple managers per round. Definitely good interview practice whether you do or do not move forward. I was consistently in contact with Holly who was great to have along the way, as she answered all my questions and was very prompt with responses. Caitlin was also very helpful in coordinating each step. I had to move my final interview at the last minute because of a personal family matter, and they were completely understanding and so accommodating. I was nervous about having to do that because the recruiters put so much effort into getting my availability paired with the managers, but they did not make me feel like an inconvenience at all. To me that said a lot about the type of people I would potentially be working with!
I thoroughly enjoyed everybody I talked to throughout the process, which made me want to work there more. Holly and all the managers made me feel completely at ease during each round. Instead of being nervous you can be yourself and it feels very conversational as opposed to an intimidating Q+A.
In the interviews I was honest about my strengths and weaknesses and I did not feel like anything was a deal breaker, but instead it segmented into talking about ways the company and its resources can help employees learn, grow, and succeed. I truly got the feeling that the culture they promote is not just something they do to reel you in, but actually what life is like at HubSpot. Having a job that is a good foundation for me to start a career path within the company, as well as actually being happy at work are two things that are really important to me and it truly seems like HubSpot allows for both.
I did apply to the Cambridge role as well, and got redirected to the Portsmouth opportunity but for me personally it is more convenient anyway and did not deter me.
After my in person interview I really fell in love with the vibe of the office as well as the office itself, but the best part about the interview process was by far the people. I am very excited to start working.
