      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Intuit (Mountain View, CA) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I applied through a recruiter. She told me it was a marketing specialist role and sent me a vague job description. Still, I decided to apply because Intuit is a great company and I vouch for their products (Turbotax and Mint). Also, some of the responsibilities listed in the job description talked about managing digital marketing campaigns. My background is in digital marketing (social media, content marketing, email marketing, SEO, etc), so I thought I might be a good fit. The first interview was a video call (basic + behavioral questions). The first thing the interviewer said was that the job description was very general, so he proceeded to explain the role. It turns out that the job was about something totally different than I expected– managing and building relationships with Intuit's external partners aka the companies giving offers/promotions within Turbotax.com and Mint.com. The interviewer seemed very smart and was easy to talk to, however I was disappointed because it wasn't a good fit and I feel like I wasted both of our time. I asked a few questions at the end and thanked him for his time. I didn't bother asking about next steps. I ended up getting a rejection email from the recruiter a week later. I Googled the job description and turns out, the role was called "Account Support Specialist." I think the recruiter just changed the title in order to get me to apply. We live and learn!
