Was contacted by a recruiter. I submitted my resume. I was asked to come in for a face to face interview with the hiring manager and 3 developers the following week.
On the day of the interview the hiring manager did not show and I interviewed with the 3 developers. 2 of them brought their laptops. They had not looked at my resume before the interview. I knew at this point things would not go well, but it only got worse.
The 3 staff members interviewing me had no experience in conducting interviews. After 15 seconds of awkward silence to start the interview I took the lead and asked about the position. Questions such as what the role was, what it supports, what applications were used, is it a new position were answered with curt answers.
After that, the interview turned into a 45 minute technical gotcha session. I was able to answer most of the questions but it was difficult to understand as English was not their first language, they spoke with their hands covering their mouths, and they were not concise in their questions. I had to ask them to repeat the questions as I could not understand what they were saying based on their accent or they were not clear and concise in their questions. Also 2 of the interviewers were working on their laptops during the interview so I knew this was not going anywhere.
At this point I could have cut the interview short and walked out, but I took the day off from work so I figured I would finish it off and not waste a day. After they finished firing off their technical questions (which they gave no indication of I was correct or not) they asked if I had any questions. I answered no.
I have been on scores of interviews. This interview at KPMG was among the worst I ever had.
