I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Varied work, good promotion prospects if you work hard and contribute across multiple areas of the business. International opportunities. Can build a long term career there.

    Cons

Highly competitive environment, partnership needs a clean-out, and still only 22% female senior leadership. Lots of client travel on some jobs.

    Advice to Management

More active female promotion and sponsorship programs.

Break away from the typical white male

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best thing about KPMG is the people you meet and the network of people you get to work with

    Cons

Being a big four, KPMG suffers from beaurocracy and also does not pay a well as some of its competitors

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

agile workplace, flexible working hours, good life balance, young culture

    Cons

annual promotion cycle based on tenure rather than merit and readiness, lateral hires receive more attractive remuneration packages whereas internally promoted rarely make top salary banding

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Big4
    - learning and trainings
    - networking

    Cons

    Salary
    Pressure
    Unrealistic deadlines
    Work life balance

    Advice to Management

    - Staffing and scheduling need to looked at. Jobs are understaffed
    - increase salary (maybe by reducing overheads). Staff much rather have an additional $5k in the bank then have extravagent Christmas parties for example

I worked at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Supportive co workers below manager level
    - Pays for CA
    - Yearly promotion
    - Good for university graduates who have no other work experience and want a 3-year crash course on the corporate struggle.

    Cons

    - Low-quality training.
    - Horrible hours and worse pay.
    - Majority of managers are poor at project management and worse at leadership.
    - Division starts to notice you only after you have your CA and get job offers outside the firm.
    - Strong culture of playing internal politics and favoritism.

    Advice to Management

    Specific to FS Audit:

    - Stop playing, promoting and generally supporting office politics.
    - Listen to your employees and put their advice into action without shutting it down because of "policy".
    - Don't ostracise outliers just because they have a different viewpoint or don't use buzzwords like innovation or data analytics.
    - Look to offer rotation programs to graduates instead of pigeon holing them your division.
    - Revamp your performance evaluation. The 1 to 5 rating and scaling system is the stupidest practice. Treat every employee as an individual instead of putting them in a box and fitting them in your scale. Sure this might take more time but maybe this would possibly impact the retention problem.
    - Change your hiring cycle. Why would you bring in fresh graduates with no understanding of how things or the audit system works in the worst months (January and July) when seniors and AMs have no time to train or coach them?
    - Fire your HR department and give the money to the graduates and seniors instead.
    - Read Maslow's hierarchy of needs. It might be a simplistic theory but it would give a better understanding, to your divisional "leaders" on how to deal with people.

I have been working at KPMG full-time

    Pros

    Great culture and leadership team.
You are given the ability to shape your career (inform executive team of interests)

    Cons

As with all places, cliques. Have witnessed people being shunned even within the team

    Advice to Management

Get the movement to agile expedited! This has taken a little too long.
