I have been working at KPMG (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to start as a graduate in terms of learning & development, postgraduate study support (fully funded CA and additional classes in addition to base pay), networking opportunities and secondments.

    Cons

Promotion structure can be rigid as with most large firms.

Workflow is uneven during year-end periods.

    Advice to Management

Great job in terms of the firm culture.

Management could do an even better job at identifying new hires who pick up work easily and keep pushing them to develop their technical skills, improve their cost-effectiveness for the business from the outset (They are fairly good at doing this, but there can be cases where outperforming employees and managers don't have a discussion on performance improvement/promotion) that ends up with the employee leaving for another firm, especially at junior levels.

Promote based on performance rather than seniority as much as possible and your teams will help you grow the business even more.

    Pros

Great people, benefits, diversity and ethos. Lots overseas opportunities. Flexible working arrangements and great for career breaks, leaves of absence etc to try other things.

    Cons

Be prepared to work very hard, often with long hours.

    Advice to Management

None. There's always "one" bad penny but overall doing well.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities to work across teams and fine your niche, especially at the junior levels. Some really smart people, and some incredibly interesting work if you're willing to find it.

    Cons

Inconsistent approaches across the firm in regards to working across a range of clients and projects. Have to push hard at times to navigate your career and management does not always support developing all aspects of the consulting skillset.

    Advice to Management

Ensure you always take into account the career aspirations of employees when resourcing projects and don't let it be an afterthought that is often discarded.
