      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LinkedIn

      Interview

Recruiter screen --> Portfolio presentation --> App critique --> Behavioral. They said that this was a simplified interview process compared to previous years but still felt pretty long. The recruiter was able to give feedback from every interview round which was nice (though feedback was pretty vague). The interviewers asked some pretty difficult in depth questions that I didn't expect at all.

HR reached out to me first, so we continued our conversation. HR messed up with my appointment, and we had to adjust the schedule multiple times. I never heard back from HR again.

I interviewed at LinkedIn (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

After a call with a recruiter, who was very kind and clear about the process, I had two back to back interviews with product designers at LinkedIn. I had 30 minutes to introduce myself and present a case study. In one of the interviews, the designer never even asked me for my case study, because our conversation was flowing well. The interviewers were patient and receptive to questions. Then, I was invited to complete their design challenge, which in which I was able to choose a week to complete. The prompt was very loose, with no clear expectations about what format they wanted the work presented in, how many screens they wanted, or how many hours I should expect to spend on it. Because of this, I ended up spending about 45 hours on the design challenge. I felt really proud of my work and felt very confident about it. Ultimately, I did not get selected to present my design challenge. I understand how competitive the internship is, and my recruiter was very kind and helpful. However, I wish that I had been given the chance to present the work I spent so long on, or at least receive more feedback. The feedback I did receive was minimal, and are questions that I could have addressed if given the chance to speak about my work.
