Interviewing for Associate position with 5 yrs management consulting experience. Interview process really didn't care about past experience. Focused almost exclusively on the case interview and, in particular, the structure. Interviewees need to practice for the cases because it's really make or break. Interview process left an impression they're really seeking people who can be molded by existing McKinsey frameworks rather than those who have a successful track record. That aspect left a negative impression, although the professionalism of all of the interviewers left a very positive impression.

The interview is structured exactly as the preparation materials describe, i.e. personal fit and case. All interviewers were friendly and supportive. After each interview round I received helpful feedback. The cases are not easy but fair.
