      Sr. DevOps/SRE Engineer Interview

      23 July 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Oracle in May 2022

      Interview

The recruiter reached out to me for the role at Oracle Health. THREE weeks after the initial screening, the first technical interview was conducted. And another coding round of interview was conducted 9 days later. (fyi, for this one, the interviewers were from offshore and I had to attend it a 8 AM, if that matters to you.) After clearing that, another 2 weeks later, the final manager interview. This one was weird as the manager kept asking me questions suitable for managerial role, which this wasn't. And he visibly looked and sounded dissatisfied with whatever answer I gave. I think that was his interview tactics to put pressure, to see how I behave under stress. Though interviews took a long time, the result was given soon. After 2 days, I was told that Oracle is making an offer. It had only the base salary and nothing else - no yearly bonus, no sign-on bonus, no RSU. Base itself was too low for my YOE and this position. So, I replied to the mail, proposing a discussion of the package. The way they responded to it is the most unprofessional behavior I've ever seen. They basically said there won't be any discussion, take it or leave it. And they mentioned that Oracle is now thinking about placing all hiring on hold, so I must make a decision soon. Sounds like another pressure tactic, doesn't it? "Accept now, or else..." After considering a lot and betting on growth opportunities inside Oracle, I said yes to the offer. But then the recruiter says that they are putting the hiring on hold and they'll update me when they resume. Few hours later, I got an automated email from Oracle saying I'm rejected from the role!
