      Lead Researcher Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce in Mar 2025

      Interview

Three step process: (0) I was invited to do the recruiter screen within 5 days of applying for the job. (1) Recruiter screen: They held 15 minutes, but honestly it was over in 5 minutes. The only question they asked me was to describe my research experience, with a focus on qualitative methodologies. Within 5 days, I was invited to do the next phase. (2) Hiring Manager (30 mins): Three behavioral questions that primarily focused on how to manage stakeholders, how to resolve problems. The last five minutes I had a chance to ask the HM my questions. I heard back about moving onto the next phase the day after my HM interview. (3) Panel interview (90 mins): This was the heftiest phase with about 7 people listed on the invite from crossfunctional teams, but ultimately I think only 5 came (all researchers). The first 45 minutes were devoted to presenting my research portfolio, walking through 2-3 case studies (30 min presentation + 15 min Q+A). The second 45 minutes was focused on a case study and creating a research plan on the spot (15 mins to prepare + 30 min Q+A). In the second part, I had to present my preliminary plan and the panelists role-played different positions (e.g., marketing lead, product lead), asking different questions about the plan from their respective perspectives. I received an offer the day after this panel interview. Overall, I appreciate how speedy Salesforce was about letting me know the results of each stage and moving me along the process. The time from applying to receiving an offer was <1 month, which is quite impressive!
