I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Starbucks (Mississauga, ON) in Sept 2012
Interview
Applied online at starbucks.com first. Received a phone call two days later to come in for an interview. I was first interviewed by a store manager from another store and was asked mostly situational questions and how I handled them. They have a system called STAR where each letter stands for something that they will write down about the particular situation they asked. I don't remember what each letter stood for but it pretty much is situation, what you did/how you handled it, something interesting about that situation and how it was resolved. The questions again, were pretty easy as it was all just situation based. Just make sure you describe one that has a happy ending. After that interview, she went to talk to the store manager for the store I applied for and I was then interviewed by her. She didn't ask the same questions although she told me she was supposed (the interviews are usually done on separate days) she just asked for my availability and what I expected if I worked there. She then told me what she needed and offered me the job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
No unexpected questions. All situational based. Make sure you have good outcomes in the situations you choose to share.
Basically a short chat about my availability, my interest in the job, why I want to work there, how familiar I am with coffee and what my past experiences in hospitality were.
Easiest interview I've ever had. I was only asked 3 questions, 'tell me about yourself, what are your strengths & weaknesses, what is your availability?' Lasted about 10 minutes maximum
Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We appreciate your input and are happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed the interview process here at Starbucks.
it was great. I answered every question thoughtfully and easily. You have to have two interviews, one with the manager and one with the district manager. It is a in person interview. They ask many questions and will either hire you on the spot or you will have to call to see if you get the position.
