      Senior Software Developer Interview

      13 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mumbai
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Stryker (Mumbai) in Aug 2019

      Interview

Okay, so i will try to write everything as it happened, without adding any spice to it. The interview process consists of around 8-10 rounds. I got a call from a consultancy and the very first round which was an HR round, was scheduled. Took out 1 hour from my busy work schedule by canceling few important things. And here i am waiting for the call from HR. Waited for more than an hour and got a call from same consultancy girl that the HR is busy and cannot connect today. Scheduled a call next day, HR did not trun up even this time, later that day suddenly i get a call and HR starts asking questions. She looks satisfied and a technical round is scheduled, got email confirmation on the technical skype video call, Booked a meeting room in office, cancelled client calls and ready to take the technical interview and to my surprise nobody shows up. Got a call after few hours that our technical team is at onsite. So technical round gets rescheduled again next day. Finally the technical round starts next day, went through 4 Technical rounds taken by 4 different people back to back for around 3 hours with a break of 10-15 minutes after each one. Finally i have cleared the technical round and HR round was scheduled again, nobody shows up as always, got this HR round rescheduled 6 times (obviously with funny excuses like she is in traffic, she is not well, she is busy), yes 6 times and finally at the 7th time the HR takes a call 1 hour before the scheduled time while i was having lunch, LOL, i told her call is scheduled one hour later from now, please call me that time. So finally the HR girl calls at scheduled time and asks everything about current role, salary, projects, blah blah balh. Got a mail next day that a Gallup (Psychometric Test) round is scheduled. Got a call 3 hours before that gallup round and some HR person from Stryker explained what gallup is and how to answer questions. Now the actual gallup round starts (The only thing happened on time, as per the schedule without any reschedule or delay) - One lady called me from Gallup(3rd party organisation) and the interview lasted around 1 hour. It was like a rapid fire where 75 questions were asked, these questions are mix of subjective and YES/No questions where they put contradictory questions for you to fall in their TRAP (For example if you say you are a hard working man, in all subsequent answers your answers should clearly describe hardworking and not otherwise) and a normal human being will not think too much and answer genuinely but that is not what they want, they want you to be so cunning and smart that whatever you say should not contradict in any of your subsequent answers. The gallup psychometric test has only 31% of success rate which means out of 100 only 31 people clear it, and your selection in Stryker solely depends on Gallup, If you fail this round you wont listen from Stryker ever again. The next round is again HR round. After that a round from the USA with some Management/ Technical people. Again HR round for final negotiations and call letter. All these calls/rounds were rescheduled at least 2 to 3 times. It is very difficult for a working professional to go through all of these rounds and reschedules, and finally fail in the Gallup round or during salary negotiations.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Technical was good. All four technical rounds were purely technical and multiple question BOMBS were drops on me, mostly around WCF, Web Services and C# basics. Gallup - Man! this is the worst thing that is gonna happen to you. If you be true and genuine there are 101% chances that you will fail. Prepare for psychometric tests online. Still there are 101% chances that you might fail. Either you have to genuinely be what they are looking for or you have to be a psychologist to manipulate the answers the way they want to listen. For example - Question 1) Are you a team player or an individual contributor? Say you answer : "Team Player" Now, After say 10 questions there would be another question to contradict the same team player question like - Question 11) Do you like to take advise or give advise ? - Now if you say take advise, you are gonna fail because a team player should always give advise. (Funny right ? ) LOL This Gallup round is not for people who are more human and less professional. You will most likely fail it without preparation.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Stryker (Freiburg im Breisgau) in July 2023

      Interview

Reflecting on my experience with a German recruiter, she had assured me that she would provide further information in due course. However, she never responded to my subsequent emails. I'm concerned about potential biases that might have influenced her decision, and I wonder how such attitudes might impact the company's progress and my prospects in the suggested role.

      Interview

Rounds are Easy. You can crack it with your basic understanding of required technology & DS, Algo & programming. the second round interviewer wasn't supportive at all. his first line of greetings was : " I thought the interview was on monday ". And he wasn't supportive, wasn't interested to listen to your approach at all, he just wanted the silent known coder who already cramed the solutions , no new approach was supported. don't expect the hint
