I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target (The Woodlands, TX) in June 2012
Interview
When I first was contacted for the interview, I was told to report to the customer assistance desk for an additional situational test. I got there about 5 minutes early and took the test on the employment computer as directed to by the person who was at the counter. After I completed the test, I was told to go upstairs and wait in the break room until I was called. I waited about 15 minutes in that room, of which I'm pretty sure I was being monitored via the security camera in the room, before I was called in by the first person.
The first interview consisted of going over my availability and basic interview questions such as "Tell me about a time where you worked above and beyond the call of duty" and "Tell me about a time where you provided great customer service". After the first interview I was sent back into the break room where I waited another 15 minutes before being called in by the second interviewer.
The second interview went pretty much like the first, asking similar questions such as "Tell me about a time where you worked with a difficult employe and how you dealt with the situation" and after each question, they always asked "What was the outcome?". I was then sent back into the break room for another 15 minutes.
Apparently I was only supposed to go thru 2 interviews, but the head store manager decided he wanted to meet me so he took me into his office for a 3rd interview/meet-and-greet. This interview was very informal and was pretty much just a way for him to get to know me and vise versa. He asked basic background questions such as "Tell me about yourself" and "What do you do in your free time?". He then informed me that I had gotten the job and he would get the HR manager. After this 3rd interview, I was sent back into the break room for another 15 minutes.
When the HR manager came and got me, she took me to her office and proceed to interview me some more, this time asking me about things such as previous employment, education, and volunteer service. I was then given the formal employment offer and told that I would start orientation pending a drug test which had to be completed within 24 hours at a drug lab some 30 minutes away.
After passing the drug test, I received an email the next day promoting me to come to orientation in 3 days, a firm sign that I had passed the test and was fully accepted.
