I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Target (Des Moines, IA) in Apr 2017
Interview
First I was contacted by a Target recruiter and we had a phone interview. Questions were simple, like what is your background and why do you want to work for Target. I then had a second phone interview with that recruiter's boss. Questions were all STAR, so use the format situation - task - action - result to answer all of the questions. A few weeks later I was contacted by the store manager and went in for an interview with the lead HR director and the store director. The interviews were both pretty short, about 30 minutes each, with the same exact questions as each other and as the previous interview. Since only a few questions are asked, don't be afraid to really explain your answer using STAR. Afterwards, I was told they would be in touch by the end of the week about whether I got the position. I didn't hear anything for several weeks, and my emails were not being answered. About a month later I received a very generic denial email. The entire process took about two months.

I applied through university. I interviewed at Target (Charlotte, NC)
Interview
It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
