I had a very disappointing experience with the recruitment process.
Before attending the walk-in interview, one of the HR representatives called me and discussed my notice period and expected salary package. I clearly mentioned my expectations based on current market standards, and I was informed that it would be possible from their side. Based on that assurance, I attended the interview process.
I cleared all the technical rounds successfully, and later the HR team asked me to upload all my documents for the verification process, which was extremely strict and time-consuming. After completing everything and getting my documents verified, another HR representative contacted me and suddenly informed me that they could only offer my current salary package without any proper hike.
What was disappointing is that the salary discussion had already happened before the interview, and I attended the process only after receiving confirmation from them. Later refusing to negotiate and simply rejecting the offer after completing all rounds and document verification felt highly unprofessional.
The worst part was the communication from the HR team. Calls were not answered, and there was no proper response or transparency throughout the process.
I faced a similar experience with another opportunity through TCS for one of their clients. Even after explaining my previous experience, I was assured that this client could meet my expectations. I attended two virtual technical rounds and cleared both successfully. In the second round, I was asked to solve a problem, which I completed successfully as well.
However, it has now been more than three weeks without any proper update. I have sent emails and tried reaching the HR team multiple times, but there has been almost no response. On one occasion, they answered and said they were waiting for the client’s update, but after that there has been complete silence again.
Candidates invest significant time, effort, preparation, and hope into these interview processes. Even if there is no update or if the client is taking time, basic communication and professionalism should be maintained. Responding to emails or calls is the minimum level of respect candidates expect from an organization.
