      Instructional Designer Interview

      9 Dec 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Atlanta, GA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA) in Nov 2010

      Interview

I had a conversation with an employee, who recommended me for the job. After several weeks I was called for a formal phone interview, after which I had a 3.5 hour interview, with a panel interview, a test, a role-play, and an individual interview with the department head.

      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA) in Aug 2020

      Interview

I was called to set up an interview. They suggested days over 5 weeks into the future. That was a red flag to me. The interview was situation based questions with two interviewers. It was seamless. The problems happened with the follow-up. I sent a standard 'thank you' and didn't hear back. A week later, I touched base and still didn't hear back. I assumed they ghosted me. Over two months later, I finally got a call to set up another video call. I was suspicious if at this point it was the second round of interviews. I scheduled it for a few days away and practiced interviewing b/c I had no idea what to expect. It turned out it was a 30-second face to face call to reject me. Honestly, I was ok with thinking they had ghosted me. The call was just salt on a wound at that point. While they were kind, this process was the most broken I've ever experienced.

      Instructional Designer Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tempe, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Tempe, AZ) in July 2017

      Interview

I received an email from the HR representative who liked my resume. The email was to setup a in-person interview with the hiring manager. I found this process to be highly inefficient. It turned out the first interview should have been conducted over the phone and not in-person. I would suggest they adjust their interview procedures so that a vetting process is in place rather than have an in-person vetting of candidates. Also, the hiring manager drilled me with questions and I had to ask at the end of the interview what position he held with the company - very unprofessional!!!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA) in Aug 2016

      Interview

Ater receiving an email from a recruiter, a pre-screening interview was arranged. The call lasted for about 5 - 10 minutes, where the recruiter asked about experience with certain software and common ID tasks. I did not receive contact again for about 2 weeks. Another recruiter contacted me to schedule a telephone Interview, where the hiring manager and her supervisor asked questions, explained what the job detailed and the location and told me they had others to interview. They informed me that they'd contact me if they felt I was a good fit for the next step in the process.
