      Marketing Interview

      19 Feb 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA) in July 2009

      Interview

Was called to be notified of the company's interest to bring me in for an interview. The call didn't really consist of any real in depth questions beyond confirming interest, employment status and availability to come in and speak to some people 1:1. Interviewing in person was pretty generic. I believe I spoke to total of 3 people, 2 together to begin with and the last was the supervisor alone. The 2 rounds of interviews probably didn't last much more than a 1/2 hour or so each (an hour in total) and didn't have too many curve balls. Questions were your traditional, "Why are you interviewing?, what else have you done, and what brought you here." There were a few more specific questions to flesh out some items on my resume, but nothing that should ever catch anyone off guard who has ever worked or been on a job interview. The people I met were nice enough and were particularly honest in letting me know that the position they were looking to fill was something that I was probably over-qualified for when they were looking for someone who they could count on to stay in that position for a number of years that I was not looking to occupy a lower-level position for. Their candor was refreshing, unlike the office and meeting rooms that I interviewed in, which reminded me of the movie Office Space a little too much. Overall, the experience was a fairly positive one that I would go through again if there was a more appropriate opportunity available.

      Question 1

Why did you leave your last place of employment? (not necessarily a difficult one, but a question I don't care for because I feel like there's never a really good answer. Just ones that are good enough).

      Application

The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (New York, NY)

      Interview

The interview process was quite lengthy and I had to follow up with the recruiter several times. I finally had a second interview, and the interviewer was not engaging at all. It was reminiscent of talking to a wall, I tried to engage her and have a conversation but she clearly did not want to be there. Acted like I was wasting her time, then I got a rejection email the next day. The entire process was unprofessional and a waste of my time.
