      Insurance Agent Interview

      6 July 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at USHEALTH Advisors (Denver, CO) in June 2015

      Interview

Their was a brief telephone interview which was initiated by myself as I did not hear from the Manager for two weeks. I was referred to the company through an elderly gentlemen who lives in my hometown. He knew that I was looking for work and had mentioned that his son worked for the company for a few years now. Apparently, being very successful by making $100,000 + a year and working 30 hours per week. As such, I found out the long delay was a result of a vacation. Once we spoke over the phone, he was very nice, articulate, and knowledgeable. I explained to the Manager how I knew his father and how he referred me for the position. We conversed about my current living situation, and past/present credentials that would qualify me for the position. The Manger was impressed with my communication skills and agreed to forward my name to his "Assistant." The phone interview took about twenty minutes. Later, that day I received an e-mail from the Assistant Manager directing me to the company website to set up a profile. I was given a code and told to use the Asst. Manager's name under "trainer.". The website was about an 19 step process which took an hour to complete. The website asked for basic employment information, education, past jobs, references, etc. A few things on the website were rather sketchy in my opinion. For starters: 1) the company wanted my bank information. I assumed it would be for direct deposit but I would rather do this in paper 2) even more puzzling was a $92 application fee. Paid only by credit card. This was the first time I have ever heard of this concept. Isn't that what the HR department is for? As such, I was reluctant to pay for the fee after reviewing some of the people who said it was a scam. I later sent an e-mail asking to clarify what exactly the fee was and if their are any other hidden fees. I was told that the fee was for e and o insurance fees and a state processing fee. As it stands, I am skeptical about whether or not I will go forward with paying the fee. Financially, I am not in the best position right now to get burned by some pyramid scheme and/or buying into some membership which involves the company providing leads for an additional fee.
