I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Vanguard (Charlotte, NC) in May 2013
Interview
Phone Interview, 4 hour in person interview, didn't get back to me for 5 weeks until I emailed asking about the position. I mentioned the word grumpy when describing a customer in one of the star questions, which led to my interviewer marking someone on another piece of paper (AKA don't do that). They really care about the customer service aspect of your past experiences and how you handle people on the phone. Knowing someone in the company would help.

Question 1
Empathize with customer whose daughter is an expecting single mother and can't pay her bills, father is transferring money to her account.
Seamless process with very kind people. They made it easy to talk about my experience prior and answered all of my questions honestly. They went by fairly quickly but it felt more like a conversation than an interview.

I applied online. I interviewed at Vanguard (Malvern, PA)
Interview
Got a phone interview that lasted 20 minutes asking about your background and why you are interested in the company. Then they schedule for another with the hiring manager virtually.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Vanguard in Apr 2026
Interview
There are 2 rounds for interviews, one was over the phone and the other is on Microsoft Teams. The first interview was a lot of asking why I wanted to work for Vanguard, my experience, etc. I have not done the second interview yet.
