Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineers (Rail Engineering)
Sydney

Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers are required to plan, coordinate and manage rail engineering projects activities to achieve project deliverables as per agreed scope, time and budget from start to completion as per client standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review of Scope, Budget and Program
• Schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project.
• Experience of P6 / MS Project
• Performance management of vendors / suppliers / sub-contractors
• Assure the accuracy of financial forecasts, which tie-in to project schedules.
• Ensure projects are completed according to project plans.
• Manage project team resources and training
• Manage change requests, scopes, variations, risks, hazards
• Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office Skills.
• Provide feedback & weekly reports, ensure timely execution of orders, and manage design documentation and all other tasks associated with design and engineering
• Assist in managing document control process
• Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications
• Prepare project reports
• Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Project Manager
• Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects
• Contribute to improvements to existing designs
• Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders
• Assign work and assist with review for accuracy and adherence to required standards
• Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
• Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes

Knowledge/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Management or equivalent
• Minimum 5-10 years project engineering experience
• Project management and specific technical skills base relevant to program of work
• Planning, P6 and/or Microsoft Project
• Microsoft Office skills especially Word and Excel
• Ability to manage teams and sub-contractors
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills, commercial acumen and effective written and oral communication skills.
