Pros

Big brand - not likely to disappear so regular work. It's financially secure for the times we are seemingly in, Free uniform & safety shoes, some incredibly decent people at all levels.

Cons

Company wants its pound of flesh for what they pay. NO overtime rate paid considering, low hourly contracts offered. Brown nosers making life difficult for others. Lack of flexibility in choosing days/ times/ hours worked. Low possible progression for staff who are not related to management. High turnover of graduates taken on who after initial period are let go – as company wants continuous fresh talent & ideas! Inadequate ride on trucks to do job, constant pressure to load and go leads to stress hanging around to get to store in time! Disgusting toilets facilities in the RDC. Insufficient facilities for the very high staff on site. Massive trailers of food waste binned which could be redirected to homeless or those in need. Very small % is actually given Lack of maintenance inside & out i.e. loading bays not working/ out of order for ages, pathetic red pieces of card used hung on inside bay doors to indicate a bay is in use implemented by management to prevent significant numbers injured loading HGV’s where driver driven off and staff fall from height! Crap safety procedures to limit accidents happening. Pickers occasionally collapsing at work in the aisles. Back breaking work-repeatedly lifting. Weak department managers who have abused their positions turning long serving staff down repeatedly who asked to transfer depts' from picking to others - then when asked again claim they don't remember although having been asked 3 times..
