Recent Grads Beware - District Manager ALDI Employee Review

Pros

Decent pay for recent grads. “Perks” such as company car (gas, insurance, maintenance included) can help you save a lot more right of out of the gate. You will learn to be extremely productive but will get burnt out quickly. Once you leave, you will run circles around your coworkers at your new company.

Cons

Zero translatable hard skills. This job should not require a college degree, as you will utilize nothing you learned while in school. You have to be willing to relocate (multiple times) for any chance of advancement. This is not ideal for someone with a family or significant other who is trying to advance their career as well. You are always on call and will come back from vacation more stressed out than when you left since things usually catch on fire if left unsupervised for more than 48 hours. You will get no real direction/development assistance from your director. Instead, they’ll walk your stores with you once a month or so, point out the floor machine needs to be ran and end it with a vague statement such as “this store just really needs your guidance” and then you’ll spend the next week playing senior store manager and questioning if you’re on the chopping block. Nine times out of ten, you’re not on the chopping block, they are just trying to get to you to work harder.

Pros

+ industry leading wages Associates - $12/hr, Shift Mgr - $16/hr, SMT - $23/hr, Store Manager - $75,000+/yr + great work environment + excellent training + health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k + 40-50 hr/wk with paid overtime Very fast paced so work hours fly by. I loved working at Aldi. The pay was great! Benefits great! Was training to be a store manager so a lot was expected of me but I was totally up for it. My store manager loved my work, associates loved my fairness, customers loved me.

Cons

+ work/life balance + walked 28,000 steps/day!!! Never thought I would be fired for clocking in only minutes late!!
