Pros

Pay is good compared to non-FAANG companies, though it’s typically the lowest among FAANG

Cons

Amazon burns people out — and it’s not by accident. The lack of work-life balance isn’t a glitch; it’s by design. You're expected to be always available, and long hours are treated like a badge of honor. Stack ranking drives the culture. Every cycle, someone has to fall, no matter how well the team performs. Even high performers aren’t safe. This system forces people to focus on survival, not collaboration. “Focus” can be slapped on you without any warning — no feedback, no discussion. One day you’re in meetings, the next you’re frozen out. It’s quiet punishment, and it’s intentional. Backstabbing and blame-shifting are common because the system encourages it. Management doesn’t stop it — they rely on it. The culture thrives on pressure, fear, and internal competition. Yes, there’s growth — if you’re okay trading your well-being and dignity for it. If you value psychological safety, support, or fairness, seriously reconsider.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
