Pros

As with any organization at Amazon's scope, you'll have to meet a high bar and contribute a significant amount of time and energy to succeed here. I've worked at several other organizations and I'd be suspicious of any recruiter trying to downplay that level of expectation and challenge. Take your time on the Amazon jobs site, read the descriptions carefully, talk with others in the company (ideally in the org you're applying for), and be upfront about any concerns when you're talking with recruiters and hiring managers. You'll find no shortage of candor. I admit that my first role at Amazon wasn't a perfect match, but thanks to the culture of creating your own path, I was able to evolve in my role and find the perfect team, all as a recognition of the effort, initiative, and value created for the company.

Cons

I've talked to friends and colleagues across the company in several different countries, and experiences vary. While I'd still say on the whole it's a thrilling opportunity to work at Amazon, some leaders and managers still need to invest more in their own development to lead teams effectively. Stay vigilant when interviewing and make sure you align with the hiring manager's approach. Challenge them to share their own areas for development, how they've evolved, and what they expect from their direct reports. If what you hear doesn't sound like something you're willing to invest your career in, stay patient and keep exploring your options across the company.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
