Pros

The pay was good, the head of the teams were great!

Cons

There was no notice of cancelling the shifts when Hurricane Harvey was bearing down on us until two hours into the shift; workers are penalized for not coming in even if you call the worker hotline. The breaks are ONLY two 30 minute long breaks, but it takes up to FIVE minutes just to get to the breakroom. This, adding the wait time or any possible mandatory activities going on, leaves you with roughly 10 minutes to eat or relax, before you're forced to get back to your stations; on top of that, you get in trouble if you 1: do not clock out AT THE EXACT TIME OF THE START OF THE BREAK (thus shortening your breaks even further) and 2: are not clocked back in BEFORE YOUR BREAK IS UP. The bosses at Amazon want you back at your station and working BEFORE your break ends! Another problem is the fact that you are not treated as a person. You're penalized for talking to other people, not meeting the ridiculously high quota set, and even going to the bathroom!! They don't care if you're sick, they want you to show up. I got sick with a high fever, vomiting, and dizziness. I called in to tell them and they said that they wouldn't let me stay home because I hadn't given them a notice at least 24 hours in advance. FOR BEING SICK. I had to come to work, sick, almost passing out, at risk of passing my sickness to the other workers or even customers through the inventory, having to go to the bathroom to vomit every once in a while. My boss came and talked to me about my TOT (time off task) because it was pretty bad. One look at me and he sent me home. The lack of movement and repetitive motions for TEN CONSECUTIVE HOURS actually messed up my back and my legs. Not to mention the fact that the inventory isn't always safe: at least twice this box of Tide detergent powder wasn't closed and burst open right into my face. I couldn't breathe, couldn't see; I thought I was going to die from it. There was no concern shared for me over this. The eye-washing stations are so spread out, as are the water stations, I didn't even know where the closest one could've been. And no one saw me struggling to breathe or anything, because we are forced to KEEP WORKING NO MATTER WHAT.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
