Pros

- You pick the time blocks. - Independent work. - Pay rate is pretty good for the low level of training/expertise required.

Cons

- No compensation for overtime, and you will go over many times, especially when learning. - Routes often end up over half an hour from the station, and often far from home. You are typically at the end of your pay block, but if you have to return undeliverable packages all the way back to the station, it's on your time; again, without pay. This is not a rare occurrence. - Your standing with the company drops very rapidly, even for things out of your control. I had two late packages on one route during morning rush hour traffic and my standing dropped to Fair (2 out of 4). Any lower and I risk being fired. I've only been doing this for two weeks, so obviously there isn't any allowance for new drivers to learn the job. - Warehouse procedures differ, but the one I use causes starting delays due to their batch loading method (30+ drivers must park and load at the same time). I am often over 20 minutes into my block before I can exit the warehouse to begin sorting my packages, which takes another 10 minutes. Again, there is no consideration for delays in this process when tagging drivers for late deliveries. - No additional pay for distant routes. I've had multiple 3-hour routes over 80 miles round trip (with 30+ stops), which obviously cost more on fuel, not to mention time since distant blocks often get you back an hour after your block is over. - In general, Amazon will overload your route and they under-compensate for time to deliver on distant routes or downtown routes that have many apartment stops (which take much more time). This causes undue burden on the drivers, affecting their standing, while having no apparent effect on the poor scheduling or warehouse procedures. Good for a little extra money, but don't expect it to be just compensation for your efforts.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
