Pros

Working with some of the most eclectic people as well as eccentric. Never a dull day at the data center. If you are a data center professional looking to up your game because you like the IaaS game, you cant go wrong working with one of the flagships of this relatively new industry. If you are in a less established region, you have a lot more freedom to go buckwild and devour information/work/experiences. If you put in the work, (pre corona) expect chartered (and of course, company covered) trips to multiple dcs globally. I have left AWS since to pursue other opportunities, but I cannot lie, this company takes their Day1 ideal seriously.

Cons

Top heavy, shifting management. Promotions can be a bit of a crapshoot, with people getting promoted for spearheading things that have little to no impact on your actual job. I was at Amazon for 2 years and 11 months. My manager changed 7 times (including SKIP). The location I was working was NOT a high volume site.

Pros

Cross training that helps for faster growth and more experience.

Cons

Sometimes you gotta hurry and find equipment or pit equipment before others snag them and leave you with the “bad” ones. That take forever to get repaired.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
