Cons
Apex is a poorly managed organization. The management only promotes who they like and do not consider the actual ability that the person got. Only very few of the seniors understand the industry while the others are new to fund service. They created policies that are far beyond the market standard and judge other counter parties with it. It wont be able to offer knowledge gain or career growth since they have been trying to minimize the number of employee in Hong Kong but outsource all the work to low labor cost countries however they hire people with poor accounting knowledge in those countries which clearly lead to horrible client experience. Every year the pay rise for promotion is less than 5% and regular pay rise is almost 0%. The company is also in a very stressed financial position that it wont be able to repay its debt due to the various acquisitions it made. There is never positive cash flow to support its heavy debts and interest. Frankly speaking, I seriously doubt if Apex will manage to survive in the next 5years. From a wider perspective, if you look at the number of job advisement/recruitment during the year, it is not hard to understand that the employee turnover rate is high given that everyone wants to escape. Now guess what is left in Apex after the good persons are gone. 90% of the experience support staff, such as HR, general admin, IT have resigned, the company structure is a total mess now but it still considers itself as the top 5 fund admin. Peter Huges and his team really has no shame.
