Pros

Company is pursuing the right science and has been the last few years; seeks/desires to provide employees with tools, processes to perform their work effectively; endeavors to be transparent with people about the challenges and issues facing the company short-term; speaks of 'empowering' people though follow through on that is hit-and-miss; for the most part, people are committed to their work and delivering on objectives to what are sometimes difficult timelines which compromises that sacred work-life balance that is broadly promoted because of resources are lacking

Cons

Zero job security for US employees (non-Oncology, non-Biologics), the recurring and shortening cycle of downsizing has taken a toll on morale. Compounds coming through pipeline are promising, but not necessarily first-in-class presenting uptake challenges for commercialization. The headcount reductions have left those remaining with implicit expectations to manage/deliver with less resources. Headcount reductions have resulted in valued employees being cut due to 'strategic realignment'; dead wood was trimmed long ago, it's now trimming 'green branches on the tree' - leadership probably would not prefer such options, but it is a sign of the breadth and depth of the financial issues the company faces in order to deliver on financial objectives for shareholders.

Pros

I imagine this is very dependent on line management but I find my team and supervisors to be true champions of a high performing and highly compassionate work culture. I find my work challenging and rewarding, and have had opportunities to learn and grow and be rewarded and recognized for my output. No job is perfect but I’m truly happy to work here and at a time when AZ is truly rising like a rocket.

Cons

Like any massive global corporate entity, things can sometimes move slowly and it can be challenging to navigate a high number of constantly evolving priorities and initiatives. That being said, AZ is very clear about its north stars and values which makes it possible to prioritize work that has the most impact and alignment with the company’s ambition and business prerogatives. 60% office attendance policy is also a bit funny when oftentimes I am on Teams calls with colleagues sitting in other areas of the world.
