Pros
I met many good employees and colleagues. They do a lot of good work in poor countries, they have many innovative ideas for better lives. The services they provide to all people are commendable. I was proud that I could help serve others in need.
Cons
They bought us out and within 7 months they had executed plans to lay off IT and bring in a 3rd party outsource IT company. They don't care if their very good employees have a bad experiences with IT, if they did, they would not outsource. So many in San Diego in IT are losing their jobs because some suit with no idea what great IT service is thinks it will improve their bottom line. I gave well more than 15 years of service to the acquired company and was put out like I had the plague. To their credit I did get a good severance but ONLY because it suited them, not because they are kind, I get the feeling if they could have they'd have given me a sandwich and a boot out the door and grabbed my sandwich as I fell out the door. I didn't even get 60 days notice, me and 12 others just bam, out the door. Now they are outsourcing all of IT except a few hand picked 'golden boys' that did their director's biding. My benchmark for BD will always be the terrible townhall they did with MS Lync that the connection was so bad they speakers mouths and speech were out of sync and video faded in and out. That's what IT at BD is, crap and it's only going to get worse. I'm a problem solver and people got to know me as such and they'd call me and be like "can you make this work faster" and I had to tell them, it can't go any faster than the network, or it can't go any faster than it's limitations. There were no ways to fix the issues, people just got used to working really slow. They don't value time here, they value only the bottom line.
