Pros

Nothing, absolutely nothing. Some customers are nice I guess, but that does not compare with management that will lie to your face.

Cons

I will start off by saying this review is for the retail bank division. Capital One is the worst company I have ever worked for. They are eliminating positions left and right and giving more responsibility to lower level employees for no extra pay. The company currently fired all of their bankers and lead tellers (because why pay them to do 1 job at 40K when they can hire someone as a UBA for 29K and have them be a teller, banker and manager). You can work here for 30+ years, it makes no difference they will throw you out the door without any empathy. I was just fired because 'my position was eliminated' and am sick to my stomach. They like to do mass firings on group conference calls as well; they will have you on a group of dozens of other people and fire you all at once and ask 'any questions'. You can be a top banker, bring in over 2 million in new money, and it makes no difference, they will fire you if they want to. How much did they save with the tax cuts? Yet they still have the urge to do more mass firings.

Pros

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Cons

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
