Pros

Decent Pay Hours are 9-5 Some ability to try projects outside role

Cons

Everyone is nice until you realize it is actually a bit of a toxic work environment. Coworkers seem nice but are actually quite competitive and will tell on you to management using any little thing they see or hear from you during hubs (have to be extremely careful what you say). Im in a situation where although results focused, if the manager doesn’t really care about you your career growth is completely stunted. It really is about how a manager sees you and how much you suck up to them. I am finding my role to be more about pleasing my manager and completely ignoring my own development. I also find that I am bot allowed to challenge management on any ideas as they see this as a challenge to their intelligence/ hierarchy. Work overall is also very boring. I am definitely feeling underchallenged burnout. Just avoid this place - there are definitely better opportunities elsewhere if you are looking to grow.

Pros

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Cons

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
