Some of the people are great! Some of them, not so much. - Senior Business Analyst Capital One Employee Review

Pros

You get to work with some very intelligent folks (much like yourself, if you are hired). The work is challenging and at times rewarding.

Cons

In my experience, employees are heavily influenced by the discretion of their direct manager (and to some extent, their manager's manager). The performance evaluation system, which ranks employees, may not fully reflect individual contributions and seems to depend significantly on how effectively a manager advocates for their team members. While the company claims to value originality and creativity, I personally felt that ideas and opinions that deviated from the norm were not always welcomed. Additionally, the company's motto, "Change Banking for Good," feels inconsistent with its practices, particularly regarding high interest rates charged to vulnerable credit populations. To me, this seems to conflict with the stated mission of providing opportunities through credit.

Pros

Great culture, supportive leadership, and meaningful creative work with opportunities to learn and grow.

Cons

There can be a learning curve due to the size of the organization and the number of internal tools and processes.

Pros

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Cons

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
