Pros
There are huge opportunities for both vertical and lateral movement through the organization. The teams care deeply about the product and through the vertical integration of design teams even though the organization was large, it was very much like working in a family. The executive management was very receptive to new ideas and there was an in-house sample room for challenging constructions and experimentation.
Cons
The organization is large, and can be a bit cumbersome to move about effectively. Lots of independent teams can result in lots of meetings which can take a significant amount of time out of the work day. A reorganization or a switch of teams can make it feel like you work for a totally different company who happens to be in the same building. So much about taste, workflow and preference is centered around the head designers that each team, out of necessity operates completely differently.
