Pros
The ability to work overseas and to work independently are the most beneficial aspects of this position with the company.
Cons
There is a great deal of competition among tour guides for "good" destinations such as Australia, because they yield the most money for tour guides in terms of how much commission is earned on products they encourage travelers to buy. The competition is so fierce that it breeds negativity among tour managers which is very pathetic. Tour managers walk around paranoid that they will be fired based on client feedback surveys. If you do one thing wrong on a tour, like accidentally offend a client fo any small reason, you are reprimanded. You basically live and work worrying about what clients are going to write about you to the company. Management never tells you what you are doing right (except in an empty speech from the CEO once per year), but they'll always find a way to get in touch with you when you've done the slighest thing wrong.
