Pros
Dell is a great place to work. I did not expect to like it as much as I do, but Dell has been a wonderful experience so far. There is a lot of opportunity to move into different roles and expand your professional horizons. The people are smart and the atmosphere collegial. I think that Dell is a very ethical company. There are some very efficient HR systems in place to make the work experience easier. There is an open door policy and executives are approoachable and down-to-earth. The spans and layers are wide and flat. There is a mentorship program and a personal development program. Dell has a wonderful internship program. It is very entrepreneurial...if you have a good idea you just throw it out there and if it is good it will be implemented. There is a phenomenal Learning & Development group that offers a multitude of professional development courses. There is leadership development and much opportunity for advancement. There are domestic partner benefits. there is a Flexible Workforce policy allowing for remote work and any number of personal work arrangements. Excellent pay and benefits. Dell is fast-moving and there is constant change.
Cons
If you are not a self-starter then Dell will be hard for you to adapt to. If you are a person who is upset when someone "moves your cheese", then perhaps it is not the best fit for you. Dell is a very fast-paced environment with a lot of ambiguity. The highest level of performance is expected at all times. It is sometimes difficult to navigate your way and determine your organizational standing. There is constant change. Re-orgs are commonplace, although top performers are helped to find another role within Dell, and are given ample time to do so.
