Pros

They are willing to hire the mature worker (50+)

Cons

- If you are a marketing or marcom professional, there are very few jobs available unless you have an engineering degree. Jobs are dead ends too without the engineering degree. - To achieve Director level, you need an engineering degree, and masters from a top 10 school. They would rather hire someone with that background in any field rather than someone with experience in field for the role. - The company has just recently started marketing to end users with very small budgets. Marketing is at the 101 level if you are even able to to that. Product managers have been handling it with spurts now and then but nothing consistent. The philosophy has been to throw it at the wall and see what sticks.

Pros

Great immediate supervisor and their boss. Made top-down communications tolerable. Great co-workers and great collaboration that lifted the entire team.

Cons

(1) RIF based on tenure, not performance. HR is too powerful a department, and everyone fears it. (2) Tenure made you lazy, killed creativity, initiative, and promoted a "yes" culture. (3) During COVID layoffs, CEO pay went from $3.7 million to $15.x million, while employees endured 25% furloughs for 3 months, and management 10% reduction in pay for 6 months - explain how that is reasonable. (4) CEO declared DEI as the way forward for career mobility, and a lot of young, promising talent walked out the door, including DEI-qualified minorities. (5) I was one of those minorities.
