Pros

Management Focuses on Employee Well-being: The leadership team is genuinely empathetic to employees' mental and physical health. The company's policy allowing sick time for mental health days is a great example of this commitment. Collaborative and Supportive Culture: Coworkers are consistently helpful and willing to assist, sharing knowledge and bridging information gaps to ensure projects can move forward. This strong peer-to-peer support is a key strength. Commitment to Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): The company actively supports its Employee Resource Groups, which fosters a sense of community and demonstrates a public commitment to diversity and inclusion. Healthy Work-Life Balance: The pace is generally manageable, and there is little to no pressure to work outside of standard business hours. The expectation of a healthy work-life balance is a major positive.

Cons

Resistance to Change and Innovation: The organization is highly resistant to new ideas. Feedback and suggestions for improving processes or products are often met with dismissiveness, and innovative thinking is generally discouraged without a clear rationale for maintaining the status quo. Outdated Tools and Disorganized Information: Relevant documentation is often difficult to find and is frequently outdated. This results in employees spending a lot of time trying to track down information from individuals, which is inefficient and time-consuming. Eroding Compensation and Benefits: There is a noticeable pay compression issue, with new hires often receiving higher compensation than long-term employees who don't get sufficient raises. Furthermore, health insurance coverage is poor, and the remote work policy has been significantly scaled back from three days per week to one.

Pros

Great immediate supervisor and their boss. Made top-down communications tolerable. Great co-workers and great collaboration that lifted the entire team.

Cons

(1) RIF based on tenure, not performance. HR is too powerful a department, and everyone fears it. (2) Tenure made you lazy, killed creativity, initiative, and promoted a "yes" culture. (3) During COVID layoffs, CEO pay went from $3.7 million to $15.x million, while employees endured 25% furloughs for 3 months, and management 10% reduction in pay for 6 months - explain how that is reasonable. (4) CEO declared DEI as the way forward for career mobility, and a lot of young, promising talent walked out the door, including DEI-qualified minorities. (5) I was one of those minorities.
