They address the following for me: Autonomy, Relatedness, and Competence. The leadership allows me to decide most things about my assigned tasks. My tasks relate to my goals and values. My tasks add to my ability to grow and expand my skills and talents.
Cons
You are not fed from a hose of readily available information, you have to use your own initiative and drive to find some of the information that others find through relationships or informal channels. Sometimes social media is more aware than management.
