Fidelity Investments

Engaged employer

The company has become very rigid, not a place to build a technology career. - Director Fidelity Investments Employee Review

Pros

It used to be the people, the compensation, and benefits - in that order. The employees are now either burned out or focused on creating impressive data about their implied productivity. Compensation and benefits are being eliminated or drastically reduced.

Cons

No opportunities for advancement in current environment. Senior management is extremely disrespectful of employees. This is primarily driven by the current economic environment where employers have the edge in this buyers market. The company is a creating a potentially permanent bad reputation that may carry forward if the economic environment shows improvement. Most senior management just waiting until their retirement.

Pros

Benefits including profit sharing and bonuses are great. The breadth of this company provides a great opportunity to try out different career paths or boost your current one.

Cons

In my current role, I am working overtime more often than I'd like with recognition that seems to only go so far until it sizzles out. That may be tied to the size of the company itself, where promotions work in a "trickle down" manner.
