Pros
Hands down the best people I've ever worked with. Genesys is a good, solid company that respects employees and their contributions. Comp and benefits are excellent and the company has proven relatively stable, even in down economies. As a whole the workforce at Genesys is smart and dedicated. Genesys is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcatel Lucent. This has enabled the company to achieve considerable financial stablity and grow rapidly both organically and through acquisition.
Cons
There is a downside to ALU as a parent company. To date Genesys has operated mostly independently but has, from time to time, been burdened by ALU policies. HR decisions are sometimes made at a high level that reflects the needs of ALU overall, not always Genesys as a subsidiary company. This means that expense and hiring freezes, as well as layoffs, can be triggered by bad numbers at ALU even while Genesys is performing well. This has happened occasionally but, to date, the results of these decisions have not had much adverse effect on Genesys or Genesys employees, but the potential is there.
